I’m often asked why Selini gold looks so rich in colour, the reason is we manufacture all of our own gold alloys. Many people don’t understand the extent we have to go to, to produce the quality alloys we do.
I create several different 18ct yellow gold alloys with different colours as well as rose gold, white gold and platinum. Our white gold is true white and doesn’t tarnish or have any tint of colour in it, unlike many cheap white gold alloys available.
Working with platinum and handcrafting fine jewellery from it is an area we have always specialised in.
The vast majority of our gold and platinum is recycled from gold we buy from customers and the trade. This is then refined back to pure gold and platinum through a smelting process subcontracted to our refiner in Germany.
Once the precious metals have been refined back to pure platinum and gold, it is sent back to me as pure bars, which I then use to manufacture my own unique 18ct gold and platinum alloys for use in our jewellery.
Having total control over our gold production allows me to produce the very finest golds and ensures consistency in supply.
The video shows me melting and pouring some 18ct gold alloy into a mould which will then be hand worked and processed into gold sections for the hand fabrication of a ring.
