Art Stones by Robin Girling

Lapidary Redefined.

Robin has spent years developing his own approach to gemstone cutting, evolving it alongside his jewellery practice with the aim of creating art pieces centred around stones he has cut.

That work is now ready to be showcased, presented through a range of contemporary art pieces that reflect his continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of what a single craftsman can achieve.

Having the ability to cut in house gives Robin the freedom to explore new ideas that would be difficult, if not impossible, to realise with a pre-cut stone.

How it works

Each gemstone is crafted by hand using one of three methods depending on the clients preference.

Master Cut – Traditional Jamb Peg technique, shaped by eye and instinct.
Hybrid Cut – A balance between hand cutting and guided machine work.
Precision Cut – Machine faceted by hand, creating symmetrical stones with a diamond like finish.

Traditional Gem Stone Cutting

Master Cut Pieces

Gemstones cut entirely by hand using traditional techniques. No angles. No charts. Every stone is shaped by eye, relying on instinct, experience, and refined skill. This is the most difficult and most time-intensive cut, representing the pinnacle of artisan gem cutting.
